Growing up in rural Michigan, I was surrounded by vast countrysides. I decided to trade in the open skies and quiet wilderness for the lively city of Boston when I was accepted into the Art Institute of Boston. Though my surroundings have changed, my work still pays homage to a fascination with space and landscape. I thoroughly enjoy rendering animals set in lush outdoor environments, or compositions of clean line work depicting plant life and abstracted landscapes. An architectural piece or two can also be seen amid a large body of plant and flower drawings. I strive to find the simple and essential roots of every piece by experimenting with many different mediums and the unique expressive qualities that each offers. However, being a colored pencil artist at heart, my love for capturing details is always present no matter what style I'm working in. When I am not making art I enjoy relaxing with a cup of green tea, a good book, or a movie or three.
